SWITZERLAND

• Neutrality: Switzerland's neutrality is a core part of its identity and foreign policy, meaning it does not join military alliances and remains neutral in conflicts.

• Partnership for Peace (PfP): Since 1996, Switzerland has been a member of NATO's Partnership for Peace program.
• This program allows for cooperation on issues like peacekeeping and military exchanges but does not include a collective defense commitment.

• Other cooperation: Switzerland also cooperates with NATO through other initiatives, such as the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council and the Science for Peace and Security Programme.

• Public opinion: While the majority of the public supports remaining neutral, there is growing support for closer ties with NATO, especially in areas like technological cooperation and defense equipment compatibility. 


UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 

This is correct; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not a member of NATO, which is a defensive alliance of North American and European countries. However, the UAE and NATO have a strong partnership, and the UAE is a participant in NATO's Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) and has conducted joint exercises in areas like maritime security and counter-piracy. 

• No membership: The UAE is not a member of NATO, whose 32 members are located in North America and Europe.

• Strong partnership: The UAE has a strong cooperative relationship with NATO and was the first and only country in the Middle East or North Africa to establish a mission to NATO in 2012.

• Istanbul Cooperation Initiative: The UAE is an active participant in the ICI, which promotes security cooperation between NATO and countries in the broader Middle East region.

• Joint activities: The partnership includes joint security consultations and exercises in areas such as maritime security, counter-piracy, and energy security.

Enhanced cooperation: A 2016 agreement further formalized their partnership, setting out priorities for future cooperation in areas like crisis management and counter-terrorism
